Paul Gower, Creative Director of Wilder Films, 2010 Grand Jury member and 2009 Grand Award recipient, commented: “When judging a piece of creative work, I ask myself some basic questions: Does it answer the brief? Does it answer the brief with style? Do I get it? And does it evoke an emotional response in me, in other words, does it make me smile, laugh, cry, think, feel uplifted, etc. If a film does all, or most of these things, then it gets a big thumbs up from me.” Grand Jury member Phil Blundell, Managing Director of The Edge Picture Company, last year’s Production Company of the Year, remarked: “In such a tough and unprecedented year for business, it will be fascinating to see what sorts of films were made around the world. Business and budgets were under pressure like never before, whilst motivating and communicating effectively with employees was of paramount importance. I’m really looking forward to seeing how film and television played its role, and for the NYF to once again showcase the world’s very best examples.”
