London-based The Edge Picture Company Limited was presented with the first-ever Production Company of the Year Award at the New York Festivals’ gala dinner and awards ceremony held at Manhattan’s Broad Street Ballroom Feb. 2nd. One of the longest-running and most prestigious international film, TV programming, interactive and advertising competitions, the New York Festivals has drawn entries from 64 countries throughout the world.
A frequent multiple-award winner at New York Festivals, The Edge garnered a grand total of ten awards at this year’s event: one Grand Award Bowl, five Gold World Medals, three Silver World Medals and a Bronze World Medal.
"In reviewing this year’s winning entries, it became immediately clear that The Edge merits special recognition for their consistently high placements in multiple award categories," said Jimmy Smyth, named CEO for the New York Festivals in December 2006. "It also seemed appropriate to create a Production Company of the Year Award as an ongoing acknowledgement of consistent excellence in the industry."
