The New York Festivals (NYF) 2008 International Film & Video Awards Grand Trophies went to Straker Films and the Edge Picture Company both of London, England; Korea Tourism Organization of Seoul, South Korea; and C.3 GmbH of Frankfurt, Germany. The prestigious accolades were presented at a formal gala held at the Tribeca Rooftop in lower Manhattan.
Straker Films won in the category of Best Information Program for “Tom’s Story,” which was created for the Child Exploitation and Online Protection (CEOP) Centre to help launch the organization. The Edge Picture captured the Grand award for Best Public Relations for an entry titled “Close to Home,” a PR piece for the British Red Cross. C.3 GmbH took the Grand Award in the category Best Internal Use/Training Production for a piece titled “ Deciding Moments: Behaviour in Customer Contact” created for the BMW Group.
The Edge Picture Company also took home the award for Production Company of the Year for winning five Gold (Non-Profit PR, Medical Sales, Internal Communications, Motivational, Security/Safety), four Silver (Corporate Image PR, Transportation/Cargo Sales, Internal Communications, Professional Training) and two Bronze (Internal Sales Presentation, Security/Safety), as well as three finalist certificates (Non-Profit PR, Motivational).
This year the NYF International Film & Video Awards received entries from 31 countries. For more than 50 years the Film & Video Awards has recognized the world’s most outstanding informational, educational and industrial film productions and corporate video. The competition also covers short film, feature-length film and documentaries.
Each entry was screened by NYF judging panels composed from industry experts including producers, directors, writers and other media professionals in the New York area. Winning entries will be showcased at www.newyorkfestivals.com and promoted by NYF representatives in 62 countries.
